PeiKen Mandarin-English Preschool, Bandar Puteri Puchong, envisions a world where its students are intrinsically motivated and innovative young people who are globally competent to make a positive impact in the world. To this end, the preschool sees this as its mission to create a supportive learning environment where students can build a strong foundation in both Mandarin and English, as well as the knowledge and skills to make valuable contributions no matter what pathway they create in the future.
Catering to children ages 18 months to 6 years, PeiKen Mandarin-English Preschool follows the Beaconhouse Early Years curriculum which is designed to encourage students to develop deep understanding of the world around them rather than memorising spoon-fed information. The teachers advocate an active inquiry-based approach based upon plenty of fun, engaging experiences to nurture children’s curiosity and lifelong love of learning through the following areas of development:
PeiKen preschoolers are immersed in a bilingual environment with powerful opportunities to strengthen their cognitive abilities through rich language exposure continuously throughout the day. To ensure their progress, teachers implement up to 7 hours of both instructional and intensive Mandarin and English learning opportunities alongside progressive readers for a structured advancement.
The curriculum aims to promote the following Mandarin learning outcomes across all age groups:
No matter where a child’s linguistic ability lies, PeiKen’s early bilinguals will find themselves in the forefront with their stronger analytical and problem-solving skills, increased ability to focus and listen, better social skills, and an overall creative and cultural advantage.
Holistic education is central to the PeiKen’s curriculum. Teachers not only equip students with the knowledge, skills and mindset to excel in the key areas of learning but also put a focus on establishing a learning foundation that anticipates life beyond university. Students here also benefit from a strong co-curricular activity programme encompassing weekly enrichments, such as, Modern Dance, Robotics, Taekwondo, Art & Craft, and Public Speaking – a programme by Essential English Beaconhouse. In addition, the enriching schedule includes biannual field trips, festival celebrations, thematic days, sports day, carnivals, parental involvement events, yearly concerts, as well as the celebration of the Global Dignity Day to promote inclusion, equality and a greater sense of shared humanity across all Beaconhouse schools worldwide.
The PeiKen Mandarin-English Preschool campus welcomes students into a bright, spacious and well-ventilated facility. It is furnished with an array of facilities, including enhanced learning classrooms, art room, library, indoor swimming pool, computer room, cafeteria, and music and art rooms, that creates a conducive learning environment.
PeiKen is much more than that, it extends to a highly engaged and supportive community of students, parents and teachers seeking to provide unparalleled experiences that help children achieve their fullest potential. Throughout this early learning journey, families will be greeted by a team of welcoming and considerate teachers who are committed with great love and passion for educating children. All teachers come from an early childhood education background equipped with relevant skills to optimise learning opportunities. They have excellent access to in-house training facilitated by Beaconhouse on an ongoing basis. Teachers are eager to be active partners, making it a point to keep parents updated on their children’s learning progress, as well as happenings in the school, via a parental communication app and termly parent-teacher meetings.
