Newly opened in 2023, the education hub provides comprehensive preschool programmes, day care, and tuition services for children from as young as 18 months up to 17 years old–providing working parents with peace of mind whilst ensuring that their children receive quality care and education. The centre caters to special needs children as well.

Smart Sprouts Kidhub is tucked on the first floor of a mixed commercial and residential building within an exclusive neighbourhood. It is just minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre, as well as the bustling areas of Bukit Jalil, Salak South, and Old Klang Road.

The centre’s premises, which spans around 5,000 square metres of space, is equipped with various facilities that are essential to a child’s holistic development, including CCTVs for safety.

There are eight classrooms in total, with a large common area that is brightly illuminated with natural sunlight, thanks to floor to ceiling windows. Shelves are neatly arranged and stocked with books, learning materials, toys, and games. The centre also has a Montessori wall filled with colourful sensorial panels to engage younger children.

Learning aside, all of the child’s needs are taken care of during the day, including lunch and tea, with nutritious meals prepared in-house fresh daily. Transport services for children to and from their schools are also provided.

Tailored programmes

Smart Sprouts Kidhub offers comprehensive programmes tailored for each stage of a child’s development. The preschool programme, for example, blends play-based and project-based learning, with elements of Montessori and the Finnish education system, which is renowned for its holistic approach.

Founder Ms. Amelinda Lee explains that the focus is on teaching children to be independent in the early stages, helping them to master practical life skills whilst learning through play. “Structured learning modules are introduced when they are older, with more project-based learning to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills,” she says.

Classes are conducted in small groups, with a ratio of 1:8 for children aged 18 months to four years old, and 1: 15 for five- and six-year-olds. They are exposed to a variety of subjects, including Mathematics and Science (conducted bilingually in English and Chinese), in addition to Music, Arts and Crafts, and a Little Chef programme.

The centre’s books and course materials are written by Ms. Lee, a former university dean with a PhD in Science Education.

While most preschool programmes focus on one medium of instruction, Smart Sprouts Kidhub prioritises trilingual proficiency, giving equal importance to Bahasa Melayu, English, and Chinese, the three primary languages in Malaysia. This ensures that pupils can easily adapt and transition to Primary 1, whether at a national, vernacular, or international school.

Parents keen on sending their children to a Chinese vernacular school can enrol in the Smart Sprouts Kidhub’s Pre-Primary Chinese tuition class, which is specifically tailored for non-Chinese-speaking students to prepare them for entry into SJKC (Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina).

Meanwhile, for primary and secondary school children, the centre offers homework guidance to provide essential academic support, in addition to tuition for all school subjects, which are conducted by qualified teachers.

When the children are not in the classroom, they can enjoy physical activities at the indoor playground, unleash their creativity at the arts and crafts corner, spark their imagination at the role play corner, or spend time with their friends at the games area. The centre also organises field trips and fun activities such as cooking and camping for all its age groups.
