BM World, Subang Jaya provides students aged 5 to 17 years a fun-filled approach to learning Bahasa Malaysia (BM). Founded in 2012, it started from the passion Teacher Mahreey has for education. She was inspired by her experience of successfully helping a student named Rudy get pass her limitations to become well-versed in BM. From that point onwards, she wanted many more students across Malaysia to be able to build up the same ability to communicate in BM. With 7 centres across Klang Valley today, BM World aims to support learners to not only score good grades in exams but also be able to express themselves confidently in BM on a level that equates native speakers.

BM Courses From Preschool to SPM/IGCSE

The centre offers BM courses for all levels. There are preschool, primary and secondary programmes, SPM/IGCSE preparation courses, and professional qualifications for adults. The modules in the courses are designed by the team behind BM World and are suitable for students from both national and international schools. Before students join any programmes, they are required to sit for a placement test. This test is designed to give teachers an estimation of a student’s current level of BM proficiency, which is a more accurate indication than using a student’s age.

Students learn in small classes of not more than 10 students, once or twice a week, within a stimulating environment. Course content combines all aspects of BM language skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The whole experience goes beyond just studying vocabulary and grammar on paper. Instead of memorising information or reciting sentences, teachers use fun and innovative ways to teach students BM. Lessons are filled a wide range of interactive activities such as drama, storytelling, role playing and games to captivate students’ attention. Students are also encouraged to engage in plenty of dialogue to master their language skills. It is all about making learning effective yet enjoyable.

Besides, when students learn together with their friends, they pick up invaluable skills like teamwork, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. These are essential skills that will adequately prepare them for their future lives.  

Throughout the learning journey, there will be regular tests to gauge students’ progress and parents will be updated accordingly. In addition, students get to participate in storytelling competitions and educational field trips, as well as holiday programmes.

BM World E-Learning

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, BM World is well-prepared to continue providing fun experiences through their e-learning classes. This online platform uses an easy-to-use interface that allows students to login wherever they are and resume live lessons according to their pre-pandemic timetable.
