QQ Kindergarten & Nursery, Bayan Lepas (Tadika Tunas Sri Gemilang) offers a fun-filled learning environment for children ages 2 to 6 years to develop holistically. Like flowers in a well-tended garden, each child is given a special place to “learn effectively, socialise easily and laugh heartily” – the vision that drives the kindergarten forward.
Here at QQ Kindergarten, we aim to educate children to learn effectively, socialise easily and laugh heartily. Through our fun-filled curriculum, children will develop into confident all-rounders who can thrive anywhere they go.
Located inside a cosy semi-detached house, this is like a second home for the children. It's a place of warmth and joy, where they enjoy coming to every day. Inside the kindergarten, every space including classrooms and outdoor playground are carefully cleaned and sanitised regularly to ensure children are safe at school during the pandemic. There are also plenty of learning materials inside, arranged to be easily accessible to the children, allowing them to explore using their senses.
The teachers at QQ Kindergarten pay attention to all aspects of children’s growth including academic, social, emotional, physical, as well as building good character and moral values. They use a total development approach to teaching, enhanced with some Montessori methods of education, to help children build solid foundations for future learning in primary school.
The kindergarten’s curriculum also incorporates the five senses to stimulate learning. As children learn in different ways (some learn better through hearing, while others learn through doing), it’s more meaningful to engage every sense in the teaching process. Also, children are naturally curious, since birth. For instance, when offered a new toy, they put the toy in their mouths, squeeze it with their hands, listen to the sound it makes and rub it on their cheeks to feel what it’s like. Teachers rightly tap into all the senses to make learning more fun. With a different topic every month, teachers incorporate a variety of hands-on activities that involve music, games, art and crafts, simple cooking, stories, dancing and many more into the lessons. This multi-sensory environment helps children learn faster, retain information longer and definitely makes the classroom a much happier place.
At the end of the time spent here at QQ Kindergarten, children will achieve the curriculum’s four pillars of learning:
Throughout the year, QQ Kindergarten welcomes parents to become part of their children’s educational journey. Parents get to join in the fun by celebrating Mid-autumn festival together in a lantern party, they go on outings to places like the mushroom farm and biscuit factory, they engage in exciting races on sports day, and enjoy their children’s performances during the annual concert. This is great for bonding and building positive relationships.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, training is given either half-yearly or whenever necessary, especially to new teachers. For QQ Kindergarten, the teachers’ love for the children takes precedence over everything else. They are attentive to children’s needs and well-being, and encourage children with positive words to work through challenges and bring out their best potential. The teachers also recognise that parents are important partners in children’s learning and therefore ensure that parents are regularly updated via progress reports and parent-teacher meetings.
