Here is a preschool with a unique background story, where it was established upon the desire of its founders’ father. This Islamic preschool offers a vibrant curriculum for kids of families living in Putrajaya, especially in and around Presint 9. Kiddy123 had a chance to speak to Madam Raihan, the co-founder of Al Fateh Sinar Genius, and here’s what we have uncovered.
Set up to provide quality education and care for little ones, Al Fateh Sinar Genius in Putrajaya cannot be missed, standing majestically in the neighborhood. “Technically, this was our first baby, before our real babies arrived,” co-founder Puan Raihan quipped, jokingly. Even more interesting is, the double-storey standalone property the preschool operates in is actually being rented from the founders’ father, the very man who pushed his children to open up a kindergarten to offer good quality preschool education to the public, something he believes matters greatly in life.
The sisters, then unmarried and with no families of their own, carried out their father’s wish, and today, the establishment is one of Putrajaya’s renowned names as far as Islamic Preschool goes. Both sisters are now married with children of their own, and they run Al Fateh Sinar Genius exactly the way their father envisioned it - with love and care, treating each little student here like their own.
Open to babies from the age of 3 months right up to 6 years of age, the chosen curriculum at Al Fateh Sinar Genius is a combination of PERMATA as well as KPSK, the curriculum preferred by most families residing in Putrajaya, as learned from Madam Raihan. The morning starts on a bright, cheery note at Al Fateh Sinar Genius with the arrival of the attendees at around 7am. The preschool is run on the first floor while the daycare is situated on the ground floor. Circle Time comes first before any lessons begin, and it is also when all the little ones engage in the morning dua (prayers), light exercise, as well as singing patriotic songs. Breakfast for the younger kids is served at 8.30, while the older ones take theirs at 9. There is an overall air of joyfulness and eagerness to learn, which speaks volumes about a preschool, for we all know that if children are happy, it means their environment is a caring and conducive one!
After breakfast, the little learners of Al Fateh Sinar Genius begin their P & P activities, (Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran), consisting of preschool subjects taught by the preschool’s qualified teachers. The bright, cheery environment of the learning space allows little ones to feel at ease as they absorb their lessons, and engage with their teachers and peers. Lunch is served to them at around noon, after which they will be guided in their afternoon prayers (solat Zohor). After rest time, the ones on the full day program will engage in special after-school classes such as languages (BM, English and Mandarin), Taekwondo, archery and swimming, before breaking for evening prayers (solat Asar).
The youngest group are served their breakfast a little earlier, after which they are guided in some fun, beneficial activities and they include Gardening, sand play, outdoor playground activities, and also water play, which are part of Activity 1. Activity 2 follows that, and these are in accordance with the 6 domains of early childhood development, which are Character & social emotion; Sensory and perceivement of environment; Esthetics & creativity; Physical; Language, communication & Early literacy; Basic math and logical thinking; and Balanced nutrition. Story time, free play, lunch, rest time, and tea-time follow, before the little ones will be given their bath. At about 4pm, Activity 3 rolls by, also in accordance with the 6 domains mentioned earlier. It should be noted here that the actual activities for 2 and 3 will be posted on an app called Anak2u. After having their milk in the evening, the little ones can enjoy more free play till they are picked up by their parents.
While Al Fateh Sinar does not provide specific provisions for children with different learning needs, including kids on the spectrum, there are parents who are nevertheless very comfortable sending their special learning needs child here for what they perceive to be the best start they can give their child in terms of early education. These parents seem to find that their kids show encouraging improvement and are happy to be included with others in a mainstream preschool.
Yearly excursions, concerts, and events such as graduation and many other enjoyable activities make spending time at Al Fateh Sinar Genius enjoyable, and these are the kind of memorable experiences that the little learners will look back at with fondness when they are older. It is also precisely what the preschool’s kind and loving patron, i.e. the founders’ father wished for, and it is evident that his wishes have come true!
