This programme is specially designed as a health and fitness programme for young children aged three to six years. It emphasizes a 'whole-person' approach to wellness and the development of self- confidence, responsible habit, team spirit and a positive attitude towards a healthy life-style.

Centre's Activity

One of the activities that Kinderland Brickfields had organized for their students was the Kinderland Book Week which is broken into 2 weeks, first week (3rd - 7th April 2017) was for Tadika and the 2nd week (10th - 14th April 2017) was for Taska. Activities were repeated to suit the audience.

The main purpose of organising such an event was to inculcate the love for reading by bringing books alive! It encourages and educates parents to read developmentally appropriate books with their child at home and children in turn become more proficient readers. Reading also improves children’s comprehension, receptive and expressive skills. Parental Involvement and enthusiasm made the event more successful and beneficial to the children. They read the stories together at home and parents also commented that children were so excited to read the books the moment they got home.

Day 1:

Good Sister & Bad Sister, a story about moral values was depicted using an interactive story board. The whole session used a Q & A based course between the teacher and students, whereby the teachers asked the student to predict what would happen next and evaluate if what happened in the story was good behaviour or otherwise. At the end, the moral of the story was repeated to the children to send the message across.

Day 2:

The Emperor’s New Clothes, a famous tale about the King who got tricked by two weavers who promised him a new suit which was invisible to those who are incompetent. Told by the teachers using video and enactment. Song and dance were also part of the story where children and teachers got up to wiggle & jiggle!

Day 3:

Children’s classic favourite story, The Three Little Pigs came alive with a drama play complete with props and full of emotional expressions! The children took part and helped the wolf blow the houses down and also kept a look out for the piggy’s.

Day 4:

A story about Helping Those in Needs got the children thrilled! The teachers rendered the story using hand puppets, song and dance, which in turn left the children in stitches! Creative use of props made the whole story entertaining. Children sang and danced to the music and gave ideas on how to help the characters in the story help their friends.

Day 5-9:

In view that the whole week has created an impact in the children’s creative minds. We decided to let the children in Kindergarten try their little hands on writing their own story book. They were excited to be authors and couldn’t wait to share their stories. It took them a week to finish their books complete with illustrations.

FINAL DAY: 14th April 2017 :

At the beginning of the week, parents were requested to make costumes of their child’s favourite book character for their child to wear for our Book Week Parade, which was held on the last day of the week, 14th April 2017. Children and teachers came dressed in their best costumes from famous stories e.g. Alice in Wonderland, Batman, Red Riding Hood, Winnie the Pooh, Frozen and many others. The day concluded with a fashion show by the pre-schoolers and Show and Tell by kindergarteners. They also shared their story book with their class.

A sincere appreciation to the parents and teachers for their support, contribution and enthusiasm in making this event a major success, which helped instil the love for reading in the young ones.
