The minds of young children are always brimming with curiosity and intriguing imagination. Their world is full of new games to play, new foods to taste, new words to understand, and it’s the discovery in the little details that gives them the skills they need to reach their full potential in school and in life. It’s also these tiny but fascinating moments that once inspired us all, and 5 years ago, inspired Ms Melissa Fernandez to start Redboot Preschool to keep children’s inquisitive minds alive!
Located in the retail podium of UOA Business Park, Shah Alam, Redboot Preschool is a bilingual, play-based preschool that aims to give children the best head start in their learning journey. Over the years, based on the positive testimonials from parents who come from far and near, it’s safe to say that Redboot has a reputation that is second to none in the early childhood education industry. “Our preschool is purposefully built which allows for it to be personal for each child. Together, with our committed educators, parents and community we will nurture the children to be confident lifelong learners with rich emphasis on the ‘joys of’ and ‘play in’ learning.”
Rightly, Redboot is a place that’s always playful, kind, loving, forever respectful, compassionate, constantly curious, and where lifelong learners thrive – the meaningful values that underpin the school’s culture. The atmosphere truly exudes joy and genuine love. When we visited, we were greeted by a welcoming front desk staff and cheery tunes of nursery rhymes playing softly in the background, surrounded by brightly painted murals on the walls. A great camaraderie fills the air; teachers communicating in inviting voices with the children, and Ms Melissa talking enthusiastically to us – our hearts were instantly captured. The spaces within are beautifully appointed to the needs of every unique child and boasts facilities conducive to children’s development, including a library that fosters a love of reading from a young age, a natural-light-filled playground to promote key social and motor skills, a performance stage for weekly assemblies and special celebration days, the Redboot Café where children learn the principles of good nutrition and healthy eating habits for life, and individual classrooms designated for each programme.
Redboot Preschool offers age-appropriate programmes, as well as after-school care services, for children starting from the itsy-bitsy age of 6 months. From toddler playgroups to preschool years, teachers here adopt the best early education practices and embrace the interconnected nature of learning. In its carefully crafted yet flexible learning environment, child development is more than just reaching milestones. It’s about turning everyday encounters into teachable moments, allowing children’s interests to influence their learning experiences by balancing intellectual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. Above all, it’s about making it enjoyable for the little ones and cultivating a love of learning at an early age.
A love of learning can’t be taught, but it can be inspired. At Redboot, innovative teachers go beyond structured lesson plans to create individualised opportunities for children to pick up new concepts and knowledge in the most effective forms of instruction, not to mention the most fun – through play, exploration and plenty of hands-on activities. These experiences cover broad areas of learning, such as Bilingual Math, Language & Literacy, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, STEAM, Drama, Dance, Football, Character Building, just to name a few. A peek through the classroom windows showed children engaged in their lessons and eager to take part in the daily activities; it’s clear that they are happy to be here! Parents can rest assured that your children will learn in a fun, caring and safe space where they will have the freedom to discover their world as they build a foundation for the kind and confident individuals they will be grow up to be.
Redboot Preschool prides itself on its commitment towards ongoing improvements to ensure children are supported in every way to succeed and families are getting the best value for money. Quality is a description the school team maintains every day, attending to the smallest details in everything they do but without losing sight of the joy in their work. Most of all, it comes from the teacher-parent community who works hand-in-hand to provide the essential love, environments, responsiveness and respect to allow each child to optimise their growth and development.
