Piccoli Kindergarten, Sri Petaling creates a happy and child-centred environment in which children are inspired to become lifelong learners. Housed within a spacious bungalow, the kindergarten welcomes 3- to 6-year-olds on a personalised learning journey. There are many practical facilities like learning corners and an airy outdoor compound for children to do all the activities the kindergarten offers.
The curriculum at Piccoli Kindergarten follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. This is broken down into 7 areas of learning, covering:
There are many opportunities including storytelling for children to listen and speak in 3 different languages. Over time, they will gain the confidence to communicate fluently with both their friends and teachers.
Children are taught to understand mathematical concepts in a broad range of contexts such as shapes, numbers, measurements and space.
It is an important aspect of education for children to remain emotionally healthy to take part in new activities and interact with peers. Teachers are always around to support children and talk to them in order to help boost children’s self-esteem, making sure they have a positive disposition to continue learning.
Teachers use Jolly Phonics to teach literacy. And children have access to a wide range of reading materials to practise their reading skills. For 5- to 6-year-olds, there are one-to-one reading sessions to improve their reading fluency. In addition, there are many activities for children to master their fine motor skills before they can have legible handwriting.
With ample space in the kindergarten for children to run, jump and play, children learn to work on balance, hand-eye coordination and strengthening their large muscles. They understand the importance of being active and making healthy choices when it comes to food and lifestyle in general. As they grow up, essential self-care skills that develop independence are also taught in school.
This involves guiding children to understand how things around them work. They learn about the similarities and differences in the world around them, they explore plants and objects in their natural environments, and they talk about how and why things happen and change. Throughout the year, they also come together to celebrate a variety of festivals, giving them insight to other cultures.
Children get to participate in a range of engaging activities such as music, movement, art and role play to nurture their creativity. These are excellent mediums that allow children to express what’s in their minds.
Parents can opt to send their children here for the full day programme that includes enrichment activities and childcare services. Younger children work on improving their fine and gross motor skills, while the older ones catch up on lessons about STEM learning, English (Budding Bean International English), and abacus and mental arithmetic.
At Piccoli Kindergarten, dedicated teachers ensure that children have fun learning while meeting the development requirements to do well in primary school. They strive to balance academic lessons with plenty of purposeful play and social interaction to encourage children to pick up a variety of skills as well. This way, children are much more likely to stay motivated during the day and actually enjoy coming to school.
Piccolo Kindergarten uses an all-in-one mobile application that keeps parents up to date with their children’s progress. It streamlines communication with parents, and they can receive real-time attendance and health checks on the go. The kindergarten believes in establishing a close, communicative partnership with parents to ensure the wholesome development of children.
