Polaris Preschool takes their responsibility to guide children through a world of discovery very seriously. In keeping with the meaning of the school's name, alternatively known as the North Star, Polaris Preschool sees themselves as ever present guides leading budding young explorers on the path to construct balanced personalities with active, competent minds. Like early explorers who navigated the globe with the sure guidance of the North Star, the school maps out an environment that has order and stability to ensure successful development of children.
Polaris Preschool is not your average preschool. It reflects the best international learning practices and more than 30 years of experience in serving the local early education industry. Ongoing research and development is carried out in order to deliver more creative and innovative ways to meet the needs of the community and swiftly changing world. The school’s management also strongly believes in providing monthly, good quality training to support teachers in their professional development, which will then lead to improved learning outcomes for children.
The school, nestled in the neighbourhood of Section 17 Petaling Jaya, spreads over a 10,000 square feet space and operates out of a 24-hour guarded facility with secure multi-tiered security system. It is constructed with a nautical exploration theme to serve the best interests of young children in an enriched environment. Key features include classrooms equipped with puppet and learning corners, reading bay filled with multilingual books, music cabin, climbing district, roof-top play deck, garden brimful of edible plants and plenty of outdoor recreational space. Collectively, they foster an atmosphere that is cheerful and stimulating.
The aim is to provide children with a future-ready education built on the Eduwis Education Method. It centres on developing skills and attitudes children need for both academic and personal success.
8 Famous Educationists’ Theories and Philosophies
The programmes offer a curriculum that is broad, balanced and connected to significant child development theories and philosophies of famous educationists: Maria Montessori (living skills), Erik Erikson (psychosocial development), Lev Vygotsky (language and social skills), Confucius (moral and spiritual values), Reggio Emilia (creative learning), Jean Piaget (mental development [cognitive and critical thinking]), Shinichi Suzuki (music learning and appreciation), and Friedrich Froebel (natural environment). This all-rounded framework delivers practices that ultimately aim to educate the whole child – intellectually, cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically.
Thematic Integrated Learning Approach
Teachers introduce different learning concepts, from language to mathematics and science to music, to children based on common themes. When children get to revisit the same ideas and apply them in multiple ways, such as role playing, reading and storytelling, they establish a much deeper understanding of the concept, hence develop the ability to retain information for life.
Discovery Learning
The school provides a world for children to observe learning opportunities through experimentation and discovery of facts on their own. Teachers do not encourage children to memorize or recite texts. Rather, they recognise the importance for children to shape new understandings by manipulating materials, discovering through hands-on activities, experimenting during interactive play and retaining that innate curiosity by examining the world around them. Children are also exposed to a mixed age group setting where little ones can interact with their older counterparts. While it encourages children to build stronger bonds with others, it also teaches children peer-to-peer interactions and how to resolve conflicts to be able to work together.
More Than 1,600 Learning Activities
Every day is filled with fun and excitement for the little ones. A myriad of activity-based learning sessions helps children understand the real-life meaning of the learning concepts introduced to them. From enrolment to graduation, a child will actively participate in more than 1,600 learning activities, and grow into inquisitive critical thinkers.
“To learn a thing in life and through doing is much more developing, cultivating, and strengthening than to learn it merely through the verbal communication of ideas. - Friedrich Frobel
Compulsory Piano Learning
The core curriculum is designed to incorporate piano as part of children’s early life. Brief daily practice exposes children to the multifaceted benefits of learning the piano including neurological growth, hand and eye coordination, heightened senses, mathematical reasoning, focus and concentration.

Being able to innovate, think critically and problem solve, as well as being equipped with cross-disciplinary skills, are cornerstones of modern education. Polaris Preschool learns from the world’s best and makes it locally appropriate for our children. Just like a healthy Japanese school lunch programme system, Polaris Preschool aims to nourish the next generation with well-balanced nutrients and foster ideal dietary habits among school children. Meals are specially designed by Indra Balaratnam, former president of the Malaysian Dietitians’ Association, and prepared on-site by a chef who has 13 years of experience under his belt.
With a well-planned programme, positive rapport with each child, strong sense of commitment, and close communication between parents and teachers, Polaris Preschool ensures that all aboard will reach their academic and social potentials to succeed in the 21st century.
