Mama Kids Early Childhood is strategically located near the northern end of the PLUS Expressway Southern Route at Seri Kembangan, formerly known as Serdang New Village. The centre was founded in 2016 by a team effort that comprised Ms. Ellieenn Tan, Ms. Siti Sawiah, and Ms. Khasidah who serves as the school principal. I was greeted with a warm welcome by Ms. Siti Sawiah and Ms. Khasidah Latif (and a toddler, really), and the duo proceeded to fill me in with helpful insights about Mama Kids Early Childhood. The school welcomes children aged 3+ to 12 years old. Unlike other preschools, the director and principal of Mama Kids Early Childhood emphasised that this kindergarten is all about “Quality over Quantity”. It is a one-stop centre that caters to your children’s different needs, depending on their developmental progress. The educators here are equipped with over 30 years of combined experience in the Early Childhood area, thus giving you the confidence that your child will be in the good hands of these experts.
At Mama Kids, the teachers and students are multiracial and multi-religious. Ms. Siti emphasised that we should encourage and teach the importance of inter-racial/religious harmony, respecting one another in the spirit of 1Malaysia. In terms of curriculum, the traditional pedagogy is adopted, with the latest approaches on speaking, reading, writing, and arithmetic through elements of play, music, arts, phonetic system, and enrichment activities, among others. This curriculum has been proven effective for the children’s social, emotional, and communication development, as well as developing good gross motor skills and coordination. Children will be sorted into their respective age group and programmes so that their individual performance and learning pace can be guided accordingly. Mama Kids Early Childhood offers comprehensive programmes, such as Day Care, School Transit, Playschool/Kindergarten, as well as learning programmes suitable for children aged 2 months to 12 years old. Enrichment programmes like Junior Gym and Mandarin lessons are also offered here at Mama Kids. In addition, for Muslim students, Mama Kids offers an Islamic Programme (daily class) that covers elements of the Islamic-Fardhu, such as Iqra and Solat lessons, to ensure a well-balanced curriculum.

Mama Kids Early Childhood offers interactive learning environment through their spacious and colourful classrooms, creating a calm, engaging, and responsive environment for each child in all stages of their development. The infrastructure was designed while keeping the safety of children in mind, having CCTVs installed and some areas locked and gated as part of their safety measures to monitoring the children closely. In addition, this kindergarten will provide an exclusive and all-rounded learning experience for your child by celebrating their maxims, which are:
90% of our students can read and write before they enter primary school.
Stress-free learning, effective teaching approach, and consistent enrichment activities are the key to it!
We aim for Quality, not Quantity.
Mama Kids Early Childhood is exclusive for only 35 kids in a year!
We do not practice one teacher teaching all subjects.
The teachers are hired based on their specific qualifications and experiences for every subject.
Ms. Siti Sawiah and Ms. Khasidah Latif explained how small class sizes can benefit the children and why they believe that it’s an integral part of a world-class education. Each student gets noticed because in a smaller class, the chances that they get left behind are minimal. In a small classroom, teachers will have more opportunities to observe and assess the class as a whole and the students as individuals. This way, the class can progress through the course material much faster through spontaneous interaction in the classroom. Oftentimes, children feel encouraged to take part in discussions in a smaller classroom, as they have more room to express their opinions and share ideas with their teacher and peers. Consequently, they learn faster and better, and their learning experience is enhanced.
With an intake of just 35 children in a year, students at Mama Kids Early Childhood can connect more closely with their teachers and peers, thus building their confidence when it comes to sharing their ideas and perspectives. This type of connection leads to lasting friendships, forming a community within the classroom. From the connection and friendship formed, your children will learn the value of respect—an important aspect in the globalised 21st century—with peers of different race and culture, especially in this multiracial and multicultural country. In addition, putting a limited number of students in a class will create a conducive learning environment, as the teachers can cater to the students’ different learning styles and progresses. There will be a one-to-one coaching, allowing teachers to customise instruction and guidance while the students receive their mentors’ undivided attention. This ensures that the children will get adequate learning upon reaching their potential.
While academic activities are vital, it is often not aimed at students’ all-round development. This is where extracurricular activities play their role in equipping children with important life skills, such as problem-solving skills and teamwork, among others. These basic life skills are necessary for the children to grow up into well-balanced adults. At Mama Kids Early Childhood, children are exposed to various fun-yet-engaging activities: music/concert, painting and sketching, and playing dress up, to name a few. More often than not, it is during extracurricular activities that children find comfort and solace through their common interests, thus forging a lifelong friendship.
