A Story About Self-Happiness
A quote from Maxime Legacé, “Happiness is more than doing fun things, it’s about doing meaningful things”, and this is the best expression to describe what Happy Villa is all about. Located in a residential area at Taman Bukit Indah, this kindergarten cherishes your children’s childhood experience by providing the best holistic development and meaningful educational programmes for 3 – 6 years old.
Warmly welcomed by the principal herself, Ms. Chen, with 10 years practice in accountancy, she decided to chase her own happiness by doing something meaningful, something she is passionate about – early childhood education. With the foundation of an advanced diploma in early childhood course and working experiences as a part time teacher, this dream chaser is now a happy kindergarten principal since 2015.
Fun and Meaningful Curriculum
Maintaining trust in holistic development, this kindergarten aspires to provide a fun and meaningful curriculum that accommodates children to the true early childhood requirements. With a good balance between all of the focused domains namely language, motor skills, creativity, discovery, behavior, self-esteem and social interaction, the schooling sessions are carefully filled with happy learning.
Based on an educational theory for 3 – 6 years old children, Happy Villa Kindergarten believes that writing, reading and listening development are only a part of the stages in early childhood education. Children need to be physically active and emotionally involved not only in their own cognitive but also social development. With interaction-based activities and materials, the educators here are not solely teaching based on textbooks but instead they involve the children in game activities, real objects and nature explorations. Using an integrated teaching method and a hands-on routine, Pre-Nursery (3 years old), Nursery (4 years old), Kindergarten 1 or K1 (5 years old), and Kindergarten 2 or K2 (6 years old), the curriculum provided is personalized according to their level of development, comprehension, and needs. The subjects allocated in this kindergarten’s lesson plan are Language, Mathematics, Science, Art and Craft.
Taking the first step into the formal learning, Pre-Nursery (3 years old) students are slowly introduced to the idea of learning. As this will be the first lesson in their lives, the approach cannot be too difficult and too intimidating. Because of this finding, Happy Villa Kindergarten utilizes the stimulating Multisensory Programme and this kit is given to each Pre-Nursery student. Enhancing their learning through the five senses, the sequence of learning using this kit starts from the real object, picture then to alphabets instead of the other way around.
As for Nursery, K1 and K2, the level deepens as the age increases. These groups rely more on worksheets and textbooks in term of their scholastic concern as they are preparing for their smooth transition to primary school. Happy Villa Kindergarten’s main mission is to make the students to not feel afraid of school and to increase their love in life-long learning.
It’s About the Children
Aligning with Happy Villa Kindergarten’s holistic approach, this school also provides extracurricular activities - Music, Art and Craft, Arithmetic and Taekwondo – to be filled on Friday and Saturday upon parents’ requests. In increasing their self-awareness and discovery towards their surrounding world, Happy Villa Kindergarten also organizes special events such as field trips, sport’s day, children’s day, birthday celebrations and parental activities. These activities are important to channel children’s passion and interest, while at the same time make them to feel appreciated and confident with themselves.
At Happy Villa Kindergarten, character building and good behavior are immensely valued. Good students are not only good learners but also need to be good person. Here, students are encouraged to be polite, to share, work together, and be kind to each other. To demonstrate how important this principle is, the kindergarten assesses and awards their top student according to The Best Behavior in K2 annual graduation. Happy Villa Kindergarten is not merely an academic institution, but also a place where children are nurtured to be a good human beings in the future.
