HANKidz Leadership Preschool, Bandar Sri Subang (Sunway) is one of the newest branches to join the vibrant HANKidz family – one with a growing reputation for excellence in leadership and improving standards. It comprises a wide variety of activities, both inside and outside the classroom, that are well-designed to engage children to learn by doing. This includes open-ended activities, outdoor exploration, group work and field trips. When children get to apply what they have learnt into hands-on practice, they understand the concepts much better and are able to connect them to the real world.
Throughout, they are also encouraged to make decisions, work together with friends in order to reach goals or solve problems, and then reflect on the outcomes or consequences of their actions. When this happens on a day-to-day basis, children become self-reliant, they take initiative, prioritise their time, do their homework, and know how to set and track goals. Teachers – Leadership Role Models
Besides a strong effort to introduce leadership principles in the lessons, teachers, who are known as coaches here, model leadership qualities to inspire children to develop and strengthen their own values. Coaches go through regular training to create an environment which is conducive for children to build self-esteem, courage, respect, responsibility and grit. They are equipped with tools such as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques to guide children to improve themselves and the way they think. When children see leadership in action, they yet again better understand it and learn how to apply it to their own behaviours.
Parents – Shared Leadership Paradigms and Principles at Home
As it is a schoolwide endeavour to ensure children are exposed to good examples of leadership, this means parents take part in this uplifting culture. They are encouraged to volunteer in school activities and be just as actively involved in the whole preschool experience. It is imperative to practise the same principles at home to maximise effective life-readiness skills.
