Our need to explore the world begins at birth. Soon after birth, a baby’s brain is creating two million new connections every second and is acutely receptive to different sensations! Research has shown that the first 5 years are particularly important for the development of a child’s brain. Early experiences provide the base for the brain's organizational development and functioning throughout life. They have a direct impact on how children develop learning skills as well as social awareness and emotional sensations.
Children learn more quickly during their early years than at any other time in life. They need love and nurturing to develop a sense of trust and security that turns into confidence as they grow. These days parents are more informed and aware of the different developmental stages their children go through. This is the reason why we see an increase in demand for baby development programs, such as those offered by Baby Sensory.
Baby Sensory offers well-researched and meticulously designed programs that support early development of babies / toddlers through exposure to a diverse range of stimulating sensory experiences, as babies learn best when they can see, hear, feel, touch, taste and smell. The programs offered include:
Baby Sensory – for babies from birth to 14 months
Toddler Sense – for toddlers from 15 months to 4 years old
Mini Professors – for 2 years and above
For Baby Sensory, classes usually run for an hour and they always begin with a cheerful Say Hello song which usually incorporates some basic hand signs to the actions. After that would be a session of structured activities using a combination of original and traditional songs and rhymes to develop early communication skills. An integral part of Baby Sensory is parent and baby engaging in happy social play with the babies exhibiting social behavior through smiles, gurgles and excited body movements. During this session, there would be dancing around the mat with music, lights to watch (which is great for enhancing the child’s visual tracking skills), water play with bubbles, musical instruments and more.
After a break for feeding, babies would then explore the sensory play area where all the toys are clean and safe for mouthing. The class would end with a Goodbye song. Activities for each class you attend are never the same. From fibre optic light shows to glowing bouncy balls, tickly feathers and puppets, the possibilities are endless. Just like their babies, parents too share the sense of awe and joy from seeing their babies learning and having fun.
Toddler Sense classes are designed to be lively and fun as children at this stage would be full of energy and curiosity, running around exploring the environment around them. Before classes begin with their How Do You Do song, children are allowed some Exploration Play Time where they can settle in and play to their hearts' content while mummies or daddies can do some catch-up and share parenting tips with each other. When it's time to begin the Mat Time activities, the teacher in charge would ask children to help push all the play equipment to the side of the room and settle in to do activities such as rhythm sticks, parachutes, giant air balls and action songs.
When it's Time for Adventure, children will be transported to a whole new world rich in sensory-stimulation and wonder. Every week it would be a different theme. During our visit the theme was Old MacDonald's Farm, so children were able to learn about farm animals. The children were mooing here, quacking there, meowing here and baaing there. They were making animal sounds everywhere! Just as all good and fun things must come to an end the class ended with a Say Goodbye song.
Mini Professors is a fun preschool science class for those aged two years and above. The aim of Mini Professors is to introduce toddlers and pre-school children to the wondrous world of science. Using fun, interactive experiments, singing and story-telling, children would learn how science can be related to our daily life.
All the programs at Baby Sensory must be accompanied by one parent. This strengthens the bond between parent and child as activities and experiences are shared……..
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath awayMaya Angelou
As a mother cradles her baby close to her, nothing surpasses the reassurance of her loving arms, the familiar sound of her heartbeat and the warm radiance that spreads over them as they gently rock in harmony with each other.
As parents and children, we should live and share these precious growing up moments for they are all too fleeting.
