Introduction

Elementary School

The elementary school at Oasis International School - Kuala Lumpur is designed for our youngest students to build a strong foundation of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and leadership ability.

The elementary school is organized by grade level and has a maximum capacity of 15 students per class in Kindergarten and 25 students per class in 1st through 5th grade. Every class is taught by elementary school teachers with U.S. teaching certificates.In addition to having qualified and caring teachers, OIS also offers a personalized learning experience and uses a holistic approach. In each elementary class at OIS, teachers use differentiation to meet the needs of each individual student. In addition, OIS focuses on various dimensions of a child as part of its holistic approach. For social development, OIS provides opportunities both in the classroom and outside the school walls for students to learn how to develop healthy friendship skills, social values, and empathy. Also, starting in kindergarten, OIS teaches the importance of how play and proper rest are vital to the educational experience and actually allow kids to function better at their academic tasks. OIS considers how long students sit at their desks without moving along with how many breaks, recesses, and PE sessions students have in a day. OIS takes each of these important elements into consideration to help elementary students be successful.

Middle School

The middle school academic program at OIS has been developed specifically for young adolescents and is designed to build on students’ content knowledge and social skills. These three vital years, 6th to 8th grade, are designed to equip students as they prepare for high school.

The middle school is organized by grade level and has a maximum capacity of 25 students per class. Every class is taught by middle school teachers who have U.S. certifications in their respective subject areas.

High School

The High School at OIS consists of four years of study, 9th through 12th grade, and is designed to prepare students for university.

The High School is organized by grade level and has a maximum capacity of 25 students per class. Every class is taught by high school teachers who have U.S. certifications in their respective subject areas. At OIS, an Advanced Placement (AP) program is available to provide OIS students with university-level academic courses that give them an advantage when applying to top colleges and universities around the world.

The Advanced Placement (AP) program is the most widely used academic program in the world. AP is operated by The College Board, an organization whose mission is to connect students to university success and opportunity. The College Board also administers the PSAT and SAT programs. AP courses are not mandatory for OIS students. Students in 10th grade through 12th grade are eligible to take AP courses once they have passed pre-requisite courses.

With an OIS diploma, students can choose to further their education anywhere in the world.
