Tadika Suria Li Ren is one of the 3 Li Ren branches that offers a holistic and nurturing curriculum that cultivates good habits in children. It hosts 3- to 6-year-olds in a bright and colourful corner lot that is surrounded with a vast outdoor space. The landscaping presents ample opportunities for age-appropriate exploration, with a garden for planting, a sand pit for sensorial play, and plenty of matted space for developing gross motor skills. It is the goal of the school to provide children with an environment where they can play imaginatively and creatively to ignite a spark for learning in every one of them.
While most schools take time to identify a child’s strengths and weaknesses before being able to figure out the best way for the child to learn, Tadika Suria Li Ren taps into the expertise of a child psychologist, Mr. Walter Tan, for an in-depth insight into the child’s potentials. A consultation will be arranged right at the very start when the child joins the school and Mr. Tan will be able to reveal a detailed evaluation to guide teachers how to personalise learning in a way that’s most suitable for the child.
The school aims to educate children to be knowledgeable thinkers and creative communicators through the award-winning “Sunshine Li Ren” curriculum. Children get to enjoy a joyful childhood that is presented through a balanced blend of languages, sciences, mathematics, arts, as well as a healthy dose of physical activity and social interaction. They are exposed to a wide variety of materials and learning resources, spanned over ever-evolving topics that encourage children to delve deep into their interests. It is a fun process of asking questions, listening to stories, discovering what’s new, exploring with friends and playing to learn. Throughout the whole journey, teachers ensure they have laid a strong foundation of academic knowledge and essential skills in children to help them transition to primary school.
There is a strong emphasis on bringing up children with good habits and moral values. Through a programme that integrates character development in the daily school routine, teachers guide children to form positive traits in the following aspects:
The basics of self-care and good personal hygiene, such as washing hands, brushing teeth and cleaning up after meals, are instilled at a young age so that these habits can last through children’s lives. This will also help boost their self-esteem and confidence.
Teaching today’s children the primary duty of being filial to their parents and showing respect to each other is the root of humanity. Under the guidance of caring teachers as role models, children learn to embrace mistakes and think critically with growth mindset.
It is very important for children to understand that education does not solely focus on achieving good grades and definitely does not end upon graduation. On a daily basis, children are exposed to a broad range of activities that uses different areas of interest to draw them into the activity. They take place in various forms (reading, writing, music, art, movement, etc.) and settings (indoors and outdoors). As children are engaged into a realm of fun, this provokes enjoyment and a love of learning that will carry throughout their lives.
As children work together in groups, it fosters development in their interpersonal skills. They learn the art of communicating with peers and adults, while becoming better at understanding their own emotions and more coordinated at controlling them.
It is the mission of the school to keep children grounded with a strong set of moral values. Narrating stories enriched with good morals and using lessons as a guidance, children are less likely to succumb to peer pressure and develop bad habits as they grow up.
These good habits are repeated on a daily basis in school and at home to help children inculcate them more promptly. They start them young and reward children for their good behaviour to keep them motivated. Compared to the “Moral Studies” component in the National School Education System, this “Habitualised Programme” ventures into an all-rounded holistic development (including good social skills, good manners, sensible food choices and physical habits) that will bring children lifelong benefits.
In order for children to learn effectively, Tadika Suria Li Ren makes sure everyone involved receives the right kind of support in all areas of school life. Children are nourished inside out, with nutritious meals and healthy lifestyle habits. Parents can have complete peace of mind knowing that their child is in goods hands within a safe and secure environment that is guarded by CCTV surveillance systems. Of course, it goes without saying, the heart of any school is the team of dedicated teachers who strives to keep everything running like a well-oiled machine.
Tadika Suria Li Ren offers a learning method that strives to meet the social, emotional, intellectual and physical dimensions of a growing child. In addition to imparting knowledge, it is the school’s intention to foster compassionate children who has a great sense of respect for life. The close relationships between teachers and children enhance the whole learning experience, allowing children to realise their full potential as students and as members of the society.
Li Ren kindergartens incorporate a holistic approach to education and child development that is supported by a strong curriculum. Through its enhanced programmes, namely “Habitualised Programme”, children are highly encouraged to develop good habits, as well as a lifelong love of learning.
