The brainchild of Dr. R.V. Playgroup & Preschool Programmes @ Sunshine Kids

Gone are the days when little ones merely attend one, or at the most, two years of kindergarten before entering primary school. Today, with such widespread awareness on the matter of children’s critical learning years, which is the first six years of life, most parents wish to take steps to leverage on this sensitive period of their children’s lives by sending their little ones to early childhood learning centres from as young as 3 years of age. At Sunshine Kids, this age group is classified as Playgroup, and they are cared for with as much love and concern as they would at home. Lots of beneficial activities are provided for them, and every day, there will be new things to learn and discover. This youngest age group at Sunshine Kids are also exposed to an early start in their education, with subjects such as English, Mathematics, Art & Craft, Pre-writing, Music & Percussion, and Tear & Paste.

The 4 to 6 year-olds at Sunshine Kids love spending their time in preschool and we can see why, for the premium preschool has never run out of enjoyable activities that makes learning such a joy! “Activity-Based learning is at the heart of the curriculum at Sunshine Kids,” Dr. Shyam shared. “ We will never just teach in ordinary ways here, for we want to ensure that each child enjoys their lesson and will retain it, and also be able to relate to it,” he stated enthusiastically. Preschool subjects include BM, English, Mathematics, Science, Suku Kata, Jolly Phonics (from the UK), Odonata Mandarin (6 years old), Value Education, Abacus & Mental Arithmetic (6 years old), Peter & Jane, Computer, Music, and Art & Craft. Students will also be taught either Mandarin, Tamil, or Agama Islam. “We are proud to be able to offer Yoga for the kids, and those who do not wish to join in will be offered other replacement activities or lessons,” Mrs Esh shared with us. Grammar & Tata Bahasa, as well as the highly respected Cambridge Young Learners Programme are offered to the 5 - 12 year-olds.

Sunshine Kids also offers full-day services for families who are in need of daycare for their child. This includes after-school activities, homework guidance and meals. Children can also opt for extra reading classes, arts & crafts, or games while waiting to be picked up from preschool. Transportation is also provided for families who need it.

Emphasising on language proficiency

Mastering languages is something which is close to the founder’s heart, and as he put it, “I truly feel that besides being proficient in our national language, children should also be skillful in reading, writing and speaking in the international language, namely English, or else, they might not go very far in life.” In this regard, little students of Sunshine Kids are given the opportunity to take up the respected Cambridge Young Learners Programme, with its certificate from the UK itself. In other words, at the young age of 6, it is now possible for little ones to be armed with an authentic Cambridge certificate!

While still on the subject of language, little ones heading to Chinese primary schools are able to take up Mandarin to ensure that they excel in their future schooling experience. Likewise, Sunshine Kids students who wish to enroll into Tamil primary schools will also get to master the Tamil language while still in preschool.
