Established around five years ago, OWL Baby and Childcare Centre seeks to meet the emotional and developmental needs of children through their first years of life from 2 months to 4 years, as well as the childcare needs of the community. At this early stage, the focus remains on healthy development, emotional security, socialisation and learning new skills. Knowing that high-quality early learning and accessible childcare are top priorities for parents, the centre provides a nurturing environment that supports children in realising their full potential while giving families peace of mind. Every child under this roof is cared for as well as parents would do for their own children.
As an early childhood lecturer myself, I know the importance of early learning for children, who learn the most from birth to the age of three. Children who have a good start with plenty of opportunities to explore and play do better at school and in life in the future. Ensuring that parents can access quality full-day and half-day childcare, as well as emergency care (chargeable at a daily rate) make routines easier for busy working parents.Ms. Jaywen, co-founder of OWL Baby and Childcare Centre.
These early years are when children are first experiencing so many new and exciting things from sights and sounds to the concepts of sharing and helping. Being more than just a daycare, OWL Baby and Childcare Centre provides a balance of structured and unstructured play and learning activities that nurture each child through every milestone. They are committed to partnering with parents to ensure the best experience for children to lay a strong foundation for their development, health and well-being in years to come. This is what distinguishes OWL Baby and Childcare Centre from traditional childcare facilities.
The comfortable and caring environment fosters infants and toddler’s natural curiosity and allows them to freely explore the spaces within. There is an infant room with individualized cribs for babies to cozy up in, with plenty of room for tummy-time and for them to make sense of sights and sounds in the surroundings. The toddler area takes up a big open space that is divided into learning corners filled with age-appropriate toys, educational materials and child-sized equipment. The corners are organised to promote active discovery in areas such as art, sensory, reading and role play. There are separate nooks for children to sit to listen to or recite their own stories, act out roles in a play area which can be set up to look like a restaurant or any scene related to the themes, do any free-form of drawing with paper and crayons, work on puzzles and construction blocks, or self-regulate their emotions calmly in a quiet corner. This is just to name a few. Instead of waiting around for teachers to instruct what to do and when to do things, this setting encourages children to explore independently and learn by doing.
All experiences help children establish a routine, encourage exploration and reinforce skills, especially social-emotional abilities. Learning how to recognise and self-regulate emotions, maintain healthy relationships and take into account other’s perspectives are all crucial skills for successful overall growth.
Regardless of ability level, the team is flexible and creative about meeting all children’s needs. Nobody is put into a separate classroom, but rather the curriculum is flexible enough to allow teachers to modify the methods they use to cater to children’s different growing rates. Teachers always plan ways to encourage participation and support children to learn as independently as possible.
All OWL Baby and Childcare staff are professionals who have the necessary qualifications attesting to their suitability of working with children. They adhere to Ministry, health and fire regulations to minimise any possible hazards or risks. Further to the provisions set out in the policies, staff are vigilant about hand hygiene and security measures, such as access control, security cameras and visitor protocol. Nutrition is also an important aspect of the curriculum. OWL Baby and Childcare Centre instils healthy eating habits as a reminder that you are what you eat. A nutrient-dense diet is maintained to help these rapidly developing bodies improve cognitive functions and sustain energy.
We always put the best interests of each child as our top priority. We look forward to embarking on a partnership with parents to help children grow into healthy, independent, confident and creative individuals.Ms. Jaywen, co-founder of OWL Baby and Childcare Centre
