Myquest Academy, Kuala Lumpur is an acclaimed provider of educational programmes software called MiKids, created specifically for use in kindergartens and nurseries. These fun-filled educational programmes, which are also distributed to enrichment centres as well as tuition centres, can only be acquired through their agents or representatives.
The MiKids Programmes, which are currently being used in several parts of the world, uses the Multiple Intelligence theory teaching approach of Dr Howard Gardner. Hence the programmes have linguistic, logical and musical elements to them. “Even the Maths programme comes with an element of song to help young minds absorb the lesson,” explained Ms Norra, the Marketing Director, to Kiddy123.
The programme consists of nursery and /or kindergarten learning material, worksheets (always extra worksheet provided), Multimedia teaching programme, as well as teacher’s online training with lesson plans, teaching resources, progress reports and evaluation sheets. The packages offered are quite flexible, and it is possible to pick and choose desired subjects. Each package will still come with all other sample books, banners and flyers for easy references and for future purchases.
The MiKids programmes are available in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, Mandarin, Science, Pendidikan Islam, and Moral Education. Bahasa Arab, we were told, will be coming up soon.
Many of us may not be aware of this but the MiKids English Language programme is currently being used in eight countries worldwide. There is even a MiKids International School in Vietnam! This should actually come as no surprise, as the founder of MiKids English Programme is Professor Dr Gerry Knowles @ Professor Dr Abdul Rahman of University Lancaster.
The beauty of having any or all of the MiKids programmes in a nursery, kindergarten, enrichment centre, etc, is that it does not interfere with the client’s management. “They come ready to be installed and used. Buyers are not even required to place our logo or banners at the vicinity of the establishment if they do not wish to, and the fees they charge due to using these programmes are entirely up to them,” Ms Norra revealed. “As for the courier charges for the programmes, these are all borne by us at My Quest Academy, with the exception of East Malaysia, where we’ll go 50/50,” she acknowledged with a smile.
The MiKids programmes are according to age, and for the 4, 5 and 6 year olds, they include text books, activity books, and E-Flashcards, as well as specific teaching plans for teachers. There are also students’ assessments which teachers can fill out, simplifying their jobs too. The MiKids programmes are created to be flexible and may be improvised by teachers as they see fit. Programmes for 3 year olds are created in line with the national PERMATA curriculum. They are generally used in daycares and nurseries nationwide.
MiKids is designed to be in line with our Standard National Preschool Curriculum (PSPK). As it is a multimedia medium of learning, it makes it more fun for children in kindergartens. Furthermore, it boasts lots of musical elements which little ones just love, hence it makes learning so much more fun compared to conventional learning methods. One special feature of MiKids is the usage of its own re-composed songs, as well as Malaysian Folklore songs such as Jong Jong Inai, for example, which helps children familiarise with some of this diminishing cultural gems.
MiKids programmes are fully applicable for both physical as well as online classes. “We also offer a portal via MiKids for the ease of some parents who were too busy during the day to look into their kids’ online learning, so that they can drop in anytime, 24/7, to help with their child’s revision,” Ms Norra continued to share. We were also informed that this portal is free of charge!
When a nursery or kindergarten uses the MiKids programmes, learning is dramatically simplified as it takes a whole load off the teachers’ tasks compared to conventional teaching methods. So much so that a kindergarten may not find it necessary to accept only teachers with degrees for the job, as applicants with diplomas will suffice perfectly well too. “The teaching plans provided for the educators are also easy to follow, with clear guidelines which teachers have found to be extremely useful. They are also flexible and can be improvised to suit even personal teaching styles,” Ms Norra revealed. It’s useful to note though that teachers are encouraged to take up the training provided by My Quest Academy for the MiKids programmes in order for them to be able to fully utilise all the beneficial points of the programmes.
Additionally, it’s so much more than just a matter of sales when it comes to MiKids programmes, as pointed out by Ms Norra. On the part of the MiKids agents who are present in all states around the country, they are constantly in touch with the nurseries and kindergartens that use the programmes to offer their advice as well as services if needed.
