Inaugural event celebrating excellence in ECCE

The first ever Malaysia Star Education Awards (MESA) 2024, organised by Kiddy123, was a landmark event that celebrated the outstanding achievements of those in the early childhood care and education (ECCE) sector in Malaysia. 

Held on 3 December 2024 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the event saw over 200 participants come together to honour excellence and innovation in the industry–including preschools, kindergartens, childcare centres, international schools, enrichment centres, and daycare and tuition centres. 

With over 400 nominations received and 38 winners, the event showcased the passion and dedication driving ECCE in Malaysia. Winners clinched awards that included Best in Early Childhood Education, Best International Early Years Curriculum, and Best Montessori-based Programme, to name a few.

The afternoon began with electrifying song and dance performances by The Performing Arts School, one of the award recipients. Guests also gained insights from an engaging forum, where industry experts shared their vision for the future of ECCE, leaving the audience inspired with ideas and practical tips.

In their keynote speech, Kiddy123 founders Y.E. Cheong and Rachel Chiel highlighted the profound impact of quality early education. “It benefits not only the children but also our society and Malaysia’s economy. Early education helps parents, especially mothers, to actively participate in the workforce, contributing to the overall economic growth of the country,” they shared. 

Cheong further emphasised why it was important to celebrate excellence in the field. “MESA was created to recognise outstanding schools, institutions, products, and services that have made significant contributions to children’s education in Malaysia. We hope to highlight the true impact they are making and inspire winners to continue their incredible work,” he said.
