Known for its cultural charm, the city of Melaka marks yet another historic first with the grand opening of its first-ever LEGO® Certified Store at AEON Bandaraya Melaka. The 1,302 sq. ft store is located in the heart of the Baba Nyonya cultural heritage district, making it an attractive destination for locals and tourists alike.
Experience endless imagination and creativity
As part of the brand’s ethos to nurture play, the LEGO Group has integrated local cultural traditions into its play experience, offering a unique opportunity to explore Melaka through the joy of building.
“With the various ethnicities in Malaysia, we are proud to be able to incorporate Malacca’s local cultural heritage into colourful LEGO bricks, further bringing LEGO play up a notch,” says Nina Patricia Da Costa, General Manager of Singapore, Malaysia, and APAC Travel Retail at the LEGO Group.
As such, the store will feature an impressive first-of-its-kind 3D model of a Nyonya lady built entirely from LEGO bricks, made by the group’s model builder specialist, Alen Zhang. Additionally, the new store will feature a stunning Graphic Pillar showcasing iconic historical landmarks, including the red-hued Stadthuys and the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, both intricately crafted from LEGO bricks.
Visitors can marvel at these creations alongside LEGO minifigures dressed in traditional Baba Nyonya attire, holding local kuihs, making ondeh-ondeh, taking selfies as tourists, and enjoying trishaw rides through the scenes.
Other exciting features to look out for include the Pick and Build Wall where visitors can explore a wide range of LEGO bricks in various colours and shapes, offering endlesspossibilities for new creations. For hands-on fun, there’s the Play Table, where they can build and create at their leisure.
