If your child is turning seven years old in 2025, congratulations: it’s time for them to join Standard One, where they’ll begin their formal learning journey!
For parents and guardians who are enrolling their children in a government school—whether it’s Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK), Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC), or Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT)—the good news is that you can do the application process online.
Since this process can be confusing, Kiddy123 has put together a step-by-step guide to help make your child’s registration a hassle-free and worry-free experience!
Applications for the 2025/26 academic year will commence from 2 May 2024 to 30 June 2024. Only Malaysian children born between 2 January 2018 to 1 January 2019 are eligible to apply.
Primary school education is mandatory for children in Malaysia. Failure to register a child for school may result in hefty fines or even imprisonment.
You can register your child for Standard One through the Ministry of Education’s Integrated System (MOEIS) at https://idme.moe.gov.my/login. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Create an account on idME.
Once you’re logged into the dashboard, select ‘Modul Pengurusan Awam’.
Click on ‘Pengurusan Profil’ on the sidebar to update your address, details of the parent/guardian, spouse of the parent/guardian, and the child.
After updating your profile details, select “Permohonan Kemasukan” on the sidebar. The requirements for enrolment will be displayed, along with your child’s updated details. Click on “Mohon” (apply).
The choice of school will be based on your registered address. Click next.
You will need to upload a list of supporting documents.
Complete the application by acknowledging the information is correct.
Print copies of your submitted application. It is best to print two or more copies, as one will need to be submitted to the school, and another can be for your safekeeping. A sample of how it looks like below:
Once the online application is complete, you are required to submit the supporting documentation at the government school that you have applied for your child within the stipulated time.
For the 2025/26 academic year, this process may be done from 2 May 2024 to 30 June 2024. Note that different schools may have slightly different requirements, so you may use this checklist as a general guideline:
Important note: This application process is not guarantee of placement, as this depends on the availability of slots at the school. Parents may check if their child has been accepted at the school of their choice from 1 October to 31 October 2024 at idme.moe.gov.my. Appeals may also be done through the website during this period, and the updated status can be checked beginning 1 December 2024.
