Hey Preschool, Nusa Bestari, Johor Bahru is always looking to improve and keen to maximise the development opportunities for children under their care. After 10 years of operation, it’s time to refresh and rebrand! Previously a Superkidz preschool, it will now operate under the name Hey Preschool while maintaining exceptional quality of care and education for children aged 3 to 6 years.
This new brand is a more accurate reflection of our vision and mission. We meet the children with love and trust. Everything we do is designed to magnify their abilities to become lifelong learners. We want the children to be able to “Say Hey! to the world confidently every day”. Ms. Raine, Principal of Hey Preschool
At Hey Preschool, they work towards developing children’s early year’s education by applying the framework set by our national preschool curriculum, as well as practices inspired by the Montessori method of education. Children are nurtured according to their individual characters and personalities as closely as possible. Essential skills are instilled to enable them to transition into primary school, locally or across the border in Singapore, with ease and excel.
Teachers know that children learn best through play and by doing, so there is always something fun and exciting for the children to experience each day. The curriculum is diverse and rich in content which includes language, math, reading, science, art, music and much more. All with the intention to foster better social emotional regulation abilities, independence, motor skills and life skills. The school is committed to a multisensorial, hands-on approach to learning. There are learning corners, each containing different materials for different subjects, designed to encourage children to explore and use their imaginations.
As children grow, they move into a more structured pace of learning where they can develop deeper academic knowledge and a resilient mindset to tackle the next stage in big school. They learn to construct longer sentences, discover broader concepts of things and relationships that exist in the world around them, practice self-discipline, be able to work with others, and have the ability to solve problems.
To further enrich the experience of children at the preschool, they also expose them to a range of extracurricular activities, such as, Taekwondo, abacus, New Maths, Talent Maths, cooking, dancing, games, competitions in Singapore, holiday camps and outings to various educational venues.
Aside from offering a developmentally appropriate curriculum, Hey Preschool strongly emphasises on building positive parent-school relationships, as well as maintaining the standards of their teaching team. There is a strong sense of trust between everyone involved and communication is key. Teachers have the children’s best interests at heart; parents can fully entrust their children’s well-being to the teachers; teachers are able to work with each other and discuss how to improve.
The preschool organises plenty of events throughout the year where families can get together and parents can develop a stronger bond with their children. The most notable one is the charity sale event that not only instills philanthropic values into children, but also inculcates the little ones with an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, teachers assign home projects where parents can complete with their child and the preschool also does talks that can help support new parents in the learning journey.
Children are not the only ones that are at the heart of the preschool, the teachers are too. Hey Preschool prides themselves for employing teachers with the right qualifications, experiences and attitude to care for children. More importantly, it’s the commitment they have for the ongoing professional development of their team. Oftentimes head teachers are sent abroad to countries like China, Taiwan, Australia and Singapore to observe foreign education practices and conduct practical training sessions to elevate the quality of teaching.
By sharing in the belief that a preschool community that works together is the key to Hey Preschool’s success! 10 more years down the road, the preschool also endeavours to offer the same educational opportunities for children in rural areas. They believe every child should have equal access to high quality education that equips them to face any challenges that come their way in the future.
