The school goes above and beyond local education requirements to assist children to become academically ready for primary school. The programs align with learning research and are modified to be developmentally appropriate for local children. A daily timetable of diverse programming promotes a strong understanding of literacy, numeracy, science, art and physical activities. Through planned, purposeful learning experiences, children learn to demonstrate executive function (working memory and mental flexibility) and self-regulation skills. When the time comes to leave, they will be armed with all the academic essentials.

Children learn in small groups under an open concept setting. Just by simply knowing their ABCs and 123s is not an indication of future success. Teachers encourage children to explore their environment and challenge them through open-ended questions. Learning through such experiences promotes the development of communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration skills. Fostering these skills early on helps prepare children for success later in the workforce, in diverse environments and in life.

Whether children have an interest in cooking, painting, writing or singing, teachers encourage children to develop the drive to seek out information and fulfill that curiosity. In everyday life at Small Wonder, Taman Sea, teachers make sure each child’s primary and emotional needs are met. Children come in to an environment that is open to new ideas and cherishes individual uniqueness. From a young age, children are taught that no matter who they are, what they are doing, how they are feeling or where they are, they can learn and make things work as long as they set their minds on it and work hard.
