Over 30 Years of Preschool Excellence
Since its establishment in 1986, R.E.A.L Kids (formerly known as CEC) has grown to be one of the largest owner-operated kindergarten chains in Malaysia, with more than 30 centres and 5,000 students nationwide. The new R.E.A.L Kids Puchong South centre which is located in O2 City marks a milestone for being the first R.E.A.L Kids centre to be set up within a serviced residence. The preschool comes equipped with a host of purpose-built and child-friendly facilities that include a swimming pool, a gym, a multimedia room, a music room, a library, a Science corner, as well as an indoor and outdoor playground, to name a few.

Like seeds that are full of potential, preschool children are also at their most delicate. Their enthusiasm to learn can be encouraged as easily as it can be discouraged. The R.E.A.L Kids curriculum provides children opportunities and experiences that would help them to develop positive awareness of self; a good sense of physical, mental and emotional well-being; a sense of curiosity and discovery; and enthusiasm and motivation to learn. “At the end of the day, we want to nurture children into confident learners who possess the right attitude and habits to prepare them for a lifelong learning journey,” added Mrs. Annette.
Introducing an Open-space Learning Environment
In the changing face of education, promoting collaborative learning environments has become a key component in designing children’s learning spaces. Learning in traditional classrooms where children are seated at their desks facing a whiteboard is becoming archaic. Shifting from these traditional walled-in classrooms to a more flexible and informal setting, R.E.A.L Kids Puchong South is designed to provide a rich and varied learning environment by adopting an open-space learning concept.
At R.E.A.L Kids, children are viewed as active participants and decision makers who are the sole owners of their own learning. They are respected and encouraged to contribute ideas and questions that help construct their own knowledge and understanding of the world. Putting emphasis on the child learning rather than the teacher teaching; R.E.A.L Kids teachers are trained to work with students’ unique qualities and abilities, ensuring that they cater to each individual’s different learning styles and capacities. This creates an environment that supports children’s optimal learning.
By doing so, R.E.A.L Kids also promotes a sense of ownership by allowing children to have a degree of control over their learning and growth. Children learn based on their individuality and progress at their own pace and circumstances. In a nutshell - at R.E.A.L Kids - learners are the drivers, teachers are the codriver, their learning experience is the vehicle and their route is lifelong in nature.
Learn through Play
R.E.A.L Kids marked the beginning of 2018 with another significant milestone – by introducing its new curriculum dubbed the ‘R.E.A.L Kids Learning Journey’ to all centres. This curriculum incorporates play-based learning that helps children to develop self-confidence and creativity. They are encouraged to practice and reinforce their learning in multiple areas during play. Not only would children learn as they play, but more importantly, they would learn how to learn through playing.
R.E.A.L Kids believes that learning should be fun at this age. Play-based areas are set up in sections- a play house, a reading corner, and a mini music studio, to name a few. Through play, children’s thinking is expanded and their desire to know and to learn is enhanced. Essentially, the R.E.A.L Kids play-based curriculum invites children to explore, question, investigate, and discover in order to form new understandings of the world.
