KUALA LUMPUR, 3 January 2022 - Ahead of the Chinese New Year, The LEGO® Group has revealed two new Chinese Traditional Festival LEGO® sets to inspire families to discover the cultural heritage and stories behind the festive celebrations. Families can also look forward to mall events across two weekends in partnership with Astro and a special edition of the LEGO® Playdate on YouTube.
80109 LEGO® Lunar New Year Ice Festival shows the joyful scene of a Spring Festival Ice Skating Park where children celebrate the Chinese New Year with various winter activities in a beautiful ice and snow scene, such as skating on the lake, playing hockey, sledding with penguins and taking photos in a pavilion. As an added surprise, a tiger minifigure is also included in the set to mark the Year of the Tiger in 2022. |

80108 LEGO® Lunar New Year Traditions celebrates six different activities of the festive occasion with six brick-built scenes packed with authentic details. These include Spring Festival Shopping, making auspicious decorations, visiting family and exchanging red packets. Each module corresponds to a set of Chinese New Year pictures to help children learn Chinese customs through play. |
|
That’s not all. To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, the 3-in-1 31129 LEGO® Majestic Tiger offers versatile play experiences for families. It can be rebuilt into a cute red panda that sleeps in trees and munches on bamboo, a koi fish swimming through lakes, or can be left up to one’s imagination to create a new animal. Family members can enjoy building together, making for a fun, intergenerational role-playing activity during house visits. |
41701 LEGO® Friends Street Food Festival
60319 LEGO® CITY Fire Rescue & Police Chase
The LEGO® Group is also inviting shoppers to give the gift of play to their younger ones. Children can take the role as their fireman or police officer heroes in 60319 LEGO® CITY Fire Rescue & Police Chase for some action-packed play to capture a crook who started a fire when he hits a traffic light while on the run. For children who look forward to having their fill of the tantalising food during Chinese New Year, they can role-play with 41701 LEGO® Friends Street Food Festival and take their pick from the taco truck, juice bar or ramen stand before sharing the food around the big table in the middle. What’s also different in the LEGO® Friends sets are the additional minifigure heads with different face expressions for varied storytelling. Shoppers can enjoy 20% off the two LEGO® City and LEGO® Friends sets across all retail platforms from 3 January – 28 February 2022.
The above sets are available at LEGO Certified Stores (LCS), LEGOLAND®, LEGO Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, as well as major retailers and department stores in Malaysia. 80109 LEGO® Lunar New Year Ice Festival will be available in mid or end January.
