Tadika Montessori Daffodils offers Montessori Education for children between the ages of 2 to 6 years old. It is situated in a double-storey corner house in the quiet suburbs of Bandar Sri Damansara at No 2, Jalan Kiara SD 11/3F.
As we approach, we notice that the outdoor play sets and activity areas are well spaced with ample room for the children to move about from one apparatus to another. Upon entering the main hall, the children who were there rose as one and chorused, “Good morning Sir! Good morning Madam!”. A greeting I have not heard since my school days. We were pleasantly surprised at the good manners and discipline that have been instilled in the children at Tadika Montessori Daffodils.
The interior of Tadika Montessori Daffodils is bright, clean, spacious and very well ventilated. A comfortable cool breeze from the air conditioning installed throughout can be felt as the principal, Madam Muni guided us through the kindergarten. There are shelves filled with books and Montessori resource materials. The walls are kept plain coloured and decorated with posters, notices and the various arts and crafts that the children produce.
Tadika Montessori Daffodils is managed by Madam Muni, who is a fully qualified Montessorian with Montessori Centre International, United Kingdom. She is also a mentor for SEGI college, offering practical Training for Montessori graduates for the past 12 years plus a certified Child Care Provider under the Welfare Ministry of Malaysia.
“At Tadika Montessori Daffodils we employ a child-centered approach, learning through his five senses - sounds, textures, colours, smells and tastes. It not only recognizes the importance of the child’s first six years when his powers of absorption are at its highest and lifelong attitudes are formed, it also taps his most sensitive periods of learning,” says Madam Muni.
Tadika Montessori Daffodils is fully equipped with Montessori teaching aids and qualified teachers committed to early childhood education. There are also specialist teachers for English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Lessons are carefully tailored based on the five main areas of its curriculum namely; Language, Mathematics, Sensorial, Practical Life and Cultural Studies which includes Zoology, Biology, Geography, History, Science, Festivals and Celebrations. This expansive curriculum takes about three and a half years to complete. A Progress Report is tabulated and presented in a ‘Meet-The-Parents’ session, twice a year. The Montessori philosophy of following the pace of the individual child is strictly adhered to. Thus, this report serves as a checklist of the level that a child has attained.
Tadika Montessori Daffodils also organizes a myriad of fun and interesting holiday programmes for its students such as a robotics-themed two-day holiday camp entitled, “Super Hero Rescue Mission” with World of Robotics. There are also Speech and Drama workshops by BluBricks and special arts and crafts classes by My Art Studio.
“Our holistic approach to a child’s development encourages us to look at the child as a whole and not focus on the individual parts. In this approach, the children are given opportunities for open-ended play while building warm relationships and recognizing the importance of the child’s spiritual and cultural development. Furthering the concept that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Through this holistic approach, we are able to focus on the uniqueness of the child.” This is the philosophy of Madam Muni and Tadika Montessori Daffodils.
Tadika Montessori Daffodils is having an Open Day starting from 1st December 2016, Monday to Saturday at 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
